Stuck in a pattern that will not shift on its own

  • Conflict and distance have become the normal state of things
  • Trauma, betrayal or a crisis has reshaped how you are with each other
  • A life transition has knocked the relationship sideways
  • You want practical communication tools alongside the deeper attachment work
What the work looks like

Experiential, not a conversation about the problem from a distance

  1. We work in the moment rather than analyzing the problem from the outside.
  2. We find the good reasons your protective strategies developed in the first place.
  3. We trace how those strategies feed the cycle, and the emotion underneath organizing all of it.
  4. We use the EFT map to move through the stuck places toward something that lasts.

In Benj’s words

When relational challenges feel overwhelming, change seems impossible, or conflict and disconnection have taken over, I help couples and individuals break out of negative patterns, repair ruptures, improve intimacy and build a more secure connection with themselves and others.

My academic and professional path has been directed by a wish to understand the complexity of human experience and the things that block healing, change and growth, in individuals, in relationships and in the systems around them. I studied economics with a focus on sustainable development at the University of Colorado before training at Denver Seminary.

Rooted in attachment research, my approach brings together advanced training in EFT with AEDP, IFS, interpersonal neurobiology and somatic work. I specialize in supporting couples and individuals through the impact that trauma, betrayal, crisis or a major transition has on the patterns between them.

Away from the work

Attachment theory has not only informed my professional work, it has deeply affected my relationships with myself, my wife of 16 years, my two children and even with God. I enjoy traveling, trying new food, time in the mountains and playing in the snow. You might also find me in my pottery studio, wandering around taking pictures, or getting interrupted by my kids while trying to read a book.
