A movement for secure love, rooted in science and story.
The Secure Relationship is an attachment-based coaching company helping couples and individuals build secure, lasting love. We were founded by Julie Menanno, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), and author of the Simon & Schuster book Secure Love, and we translate the science of attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) into practical tools anyone can use.
It started quietly. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Julie opened a small Instagram account to share attachment insights from her therapy practice in Bozeman, Montana: hand-drawn comics, funny bird memes, and the occasional cameo from her dog, Scout. What began as a creative outlet grew, unexpectedly, into a global platform for relationship transformation now followed by more than 1.3 million people.
Today, The Secure Relationship is far more than an Instagram account. With a nationwide team of skilled, attachment-informed coaches, Julie's mission has grown into a complete ecosystem of education, coaching, and community, supporting people all over the world in creating the kind of connection that lasts.
What We Believe
Everything we make rests on a simple idea: the patterns that shape our relationships are learned, and what is learned can be changed. Our work is grounded in two evidence-based frameworks.
Attachment theory
Understanding how your earliest bonds shape the way you connect, protect, and reach for others today.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
A research-backed model for de-escalating conflict, healing disconnection, and building lasting security between partners.
We believe secure love is a skill, not a personality trait. We believe fighting is not what breaks relationships. Emotional disconnection is. And real change happens when insight meets practice, with the right support along the way.
What We Offer
Education, coaching, and community, all grounded in attachment theory and EFT.

What is attachment-based coaching?
Attachment-based coaching helps you understand how your early relationships shaped the way you bond, communicate, and handle conflict today, and then build new, more secure patterns. Our coaching draws on attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples and individuals connect more securely.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No. Coaching focuses on education, skills, and growth in your relationships, and it is not therapy or a substitute for mental-health treatment. While our founder is a licensed therapist and our approach is clinically informed, our coaching services are not a replacement for individual or couples therapy where that is needed.
Do you work with individuals, or only couples?
Both. We offer coaching, courses, and groups for individuals as well as couples, because building secure love starts from the inside out, whether you are single, dating, or partnered.
Where are you located, and do you work with clients worldwide?
We are based in Bozeman, Montana, and our coaching, courses, groups, and podcast are available to clients all over the world.
What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?
Emotionally Focused Therapy is a research-backed approach to strengthening relationships by identifying negative conflict cycles, healing emotional disconnection, and building secure bonds between partners. It is one of the two frameworks, along with attachment theory, that guides everything we do.
