Meet Benj Massey: Expert Relationship Coach
My name is Benj Massey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and relationship coach. When relational challenges feel overwhelming, change seems impossible or conflict and disconnection have taken over, I work to help couples and individuals break out of negative patterns, repair ruptures, improve intimacy and develop a more secure connection with themselves and others.
Professional and Academic Experience
With a degree in Economics with a focus in sustainable development from the University of Colorado and a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary, my academic and professional pursuits have been directed by my passion to understand the complexity of the human experience and things that block healing, change and growth in individuals, relationships and broader systems.
Rooted in attachment research, my approach integrates advanced training in EFT with couples and individuals, as well as principles from AEDP, IFS, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Somatic therapy. I specialize in supporting couples and individuals as they face the impacts that trauma, betrayal, crisis, or life transitions have on negative patterns and help them get unstuck as we work towards the healing and new solutions that come with secure attachment.
What to Expect Working with Me
My intention is to honor and integrate all parts of who you are — emotionally, physically, mentally, relationally, culturally, sexually, and spiritually — while working in a nonjudgmental and supportive space that feels safe for this work. Together, we will experientially explore challenges guided by the research based map of EFT to navigate through stuck places towards lasting change and security. Along the way we will explore the good reasons that insecure strategies developed, how those strategies contribute to negative cycles and the emotion underneath that organizes it all.
About Me
I value lifelong learning and ongoing personal growth. Attachment theory has not only informed my professional work, but has deeply impacted my relationships with myself, my wife of 16 years, my two children and even with God.
I love to experience life with curiosity, creativity and wonder. I enjoy traveling, trying new food, spending time in the mountains and playing in the snow. You might also find me in my pottery studio, wandering around taking pictures, or getting interrupted by my kids while trying to read a book.
