Part 2: Interrupting Your Negative Cycle
with Julie Menanno
If you have mapped your negative cycle and understand the pattern that pulls you in, the next step is learning how to stop it in real time.
In this workshop-style course, Julie shows you how to interrupt your negative cycle the moment it starts before the conversation escalates, before the defenses take over, and before both partners feel disconnected or alone.
You will learn:
How to recognize the earliest signs your cycle is activating
How to stay grounded and regulated when emotions rise
How to take a step out without making your partner feel dismissed or abandoned
How to shift from reactivity to curiosity, connection, and vulnerability
How to use simple, practical tools that help both partners feel safer in the moment
How to work together as a team instead of getting pulled into old patterns
This course is not about never having conflict again. It is about creating enough emotional safety to change the way conflict goes.
When you can interrupt your cycle, you can change the entire direction of the moment.

Through a grounding and visualization exercise, Julie helps partners revisit a recent cycle, notice what happens in their body, and identify the personal block that shows up when they try to interrupt the pattern. This lesson builds self-awareness for real-time change.
-
Julie explains how to tell the difference between intentionally pausing for good timing versus appeasing or freezing from fear. She guides participants in using body awareness to understand whether they’re operating from protection or from connection.
-
In this final exercise, partners share the block they identified and invite each other into a team-based approach to interrupting the cycle. Julie emphasizes using non-shaming language so both partners feel safe as they build awareness and support each other.
